What We Believe

The members of Trinity believe that the Bible is the inerrant Word of God. The Bible teaches, and we believe, that all humans are born in sin and deserve God's eternal punishment of hell. For this reason we place our hope and faith in our Savior Jesus Christ. The Bible teaches that Jesus is both true God and true man, and that he died for the sins of the whole world. We believe that his death served as the punishment for our sins and that, because he rose from death on Easter morning, we too will rise from death on the Last Day to enjoy eternal life with him and all believers in heaven.

Trinity belongs to the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS). A synod is a group of churches that walks together on the basis of their public beliefs and mission. Our mission in the WELS is to save souls by taking God's Word to the ends of the earth. Our detailed public confession can be found on our synod's website by following this link:

Trinity is a confessional church. This means that we are united as a congregation and as a synod on the basis of our public confession. Our confession is the confession of the Lutheran church as it is found in the Book of Concord. The confessions found in the Book of Concord are:

  • The Apostles' Creed

  • The Nicene Creed

  • The Athanasian Creed

  • The Augsburg Confession

  • Apology (Defense) of the Augsburg Confession

  • The Smalcald Articles

  • Treatise on the Power and Primacy of the Pope

  • The Small Catechism

  • The Large Catechism

  • Formula of Concord

We hold to these confessions because they correctly teach and defend the words of Scripture.
